Welcome to the data subject requests portal, a tool you can use to request Tusla:
- provide access to your personal data;
- rectify your data;
- complete your data;
- erase your data;
- restrict the processing of your data, and;
- record your objection to the processing of your data.
Before proceeding, please read the five points below.
1. What do I need to make a request?
Tusla can’t act unless you confirm your identity. You can do this by providing identification which is certified, e.g. by a member of An Garda Síochána, Commissioner for Oaths, or medical doctor. After you make your request, you will be contacted to confirm your identity.
To retrieve your data, you must indicate which Tusla services you used and where you used them. If your data are likely stored in another person's records, you must name that person.
2. Can I make a request for someone else’s data?
Tusla can only give you data you are authorised to receive. If your request concerns another person's data, you must confirm that you are permitted to act on their behalf. If, for example, you are making a request on behalf of a child, you must verify guardianship.
3. What happens after I make my request?
Tusla’s Data Protection Unit will handle your request by following our standard operating procedure. Among other things, this involves certification of guardianship, retrieval of records, and preparation of the records for release.
Preparation involves checking whether or not records can be released. Access request-handling, for example, may require removal of others' data from records before they are given to you. This means that some of the records you get may be fully or partially redacted.
4. What if I have questions about the outcome of my request?
Tusla's response to your request will advise you of your rights. You will also have the opportunity to communicate any queries, which the Data Protection Unit will carefully consider.
5. How do I make a request?
